The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has approved a new rule. That will see goalkeepers awarded a corner kick for more than eight seconds instead of two free kicks, starting next season. Under

the old rule, goalkeepers who held the ball for more than six seconds were awarded two free kicks. But the new rule has been updated to allow longer periods and changes to the penalty.
